Ich mache #politischeskabarett - mittlerweile muss man dazu sagen: ich mache linkes politisches Kabarett. Das ist im Rahmen der Zeitenwende etwas aus der Mode gekommen, aber wichtiger denn je. Im Jahr 2023 habe ich dafür noch den Deutschen Kleinkunstpreis erhalten - das würde jetzt wohl nicht mehr passieren 😉

Auch die #Schweiz bringt gerade zügig ein Vorhaben zur Verifikationspflicht mit erheblichen Überwachungsbefugnissen und der Einführung "digitaler Identitäten" voran. Dabei scheint sie fast wie im Gleichklang mit den Plänen der #EU vorzugehen, geht aber in einigen Bereichen noch weiter.
Obwohl in einem Referendum 2021 die Bevölkerung der Schweiz mehrheitlich die "Digitalen Identitäten" abgelehnt hatte, arbeiten Schweizer Regierungen zur Zeit konkret auf die E-ID hin. Mit den Alterkontrollen werden Anwendungsfälle geschaffen und sollen so wohl zur Akzeptanzvergrößerung beitragen.

Mit Ausnahme weniger konstruktiver Rückmeldungen ergoss sich dort eine Welle an Nachrichten über mich, die den Vorfall relativierten, rechte Sichtbarkeit verharmlosten, in teils absurdes Grünen-Bashing abglitten oder sich in direkten Beleidigungen erschöpften – bislang über 275 an der Zahl. The day after the return, I get an e-mail that during that time, their "team" detected some (unspecified) driving style violations, threatening a 250€ fine if I repeat the offense, or even termination of service.
I send them a request for more details, because I genuinely have no idea.

You're absolutely right about FediBuzz being erratic - I've noticed that too. Some days are content-heavy, others pretty quiet.
I actually tried both services and found different strengths:
TagPush: More reliable/consistent, but limited tag selection (totally understandable for a one-person project!)
FediBuzz: Broader tag coverage (I need things like #proxmox, #docker, #fediadmin and also #nrw and other hashtags for local content), but yeah, the reliability can be hit-or-miss.
For my use case I ended up sticking with FediBuzz mainly because I need some specific tech/local tags that aren't available on TagPush yet. But I really like TagPush's consistent delivery approach - that "fire-hose" problem you mention with relays is real!
Question: Are you planning to expand the tag list, or keeping it intentionally curated to maintain quality? I'd love to see tags like #docker, #proxmox, #homelab if that fits your vision!
Really appreciate both services existing - competition/alternatives are always good for the ecosystem! 🚀

I can't say that any of these types of systems (whether open or closed) have shown that they are actually useful for me, and I feel that they are very much harmful.
Many times I've had people say that they, "don't like" some thing that I've mentioned or talked about, which I'd then say that I'd like to hear what the reasons are for that, only for people to not answer.
It's not that I need a full explanation, but searching for, "what's wrong with..." is often a tricky thing to figure out if all you know is that there's something wrong.
Often when I do (like I just did) it seems like it's based on some argument that either is poorly formed, or fails to understand (poorly formed, I mean based on invalid premises, or unsound arguments).
It's fine to do such, but it becomes difficult to understand, for people who look and go, "but your argument is unsound," or "your argument is based on invalid premises".
Like I can read it, and try to come up with whether or not there is a sound and valid argument that supports the conclusion, but usually I'm left hanging with a sense that due to a misunderstanding, I won't really understand.
Now a better approach in my opinion is, "I just don't like it, and I don't really know why." That to me I can actually go, "yep fine, nothing wrong with that argument, and I have no reason to disagree with you." Well, I may have reason to disagree, but I have no reason to try to give you information to change your mind.
I do not use Shinigami Eyes. I have used it in the past, and for reasons stated above:
* I found it to have bad results.
* I found myself being compelled to "trust" it.
* I found that it disrupted my experience of browsing (not stated above).
Possibly some others, I've never gone back to it. I may have removed it. I may have just not felt a desire to add it after I switched browsers (or computers).
Now the #Fediblock issues I've kind of been thinking about. First off, I have zero problem with those who post about an instance (or of recent an email domain) to block. Especially if there's enough information you can make a decision based on.
I often do a "I'll take a note of that." Then I move on. I make similar posts myself. I hope that people will either do the same as myself, or take some time to look at what I've said, and see if it seems like it's valid.
I saw many people who would comment that "kolektiva is bad". I'd ask what the issue was, and no one said anything about what bad stuff is there.
The site(s) seem to be very much trying to promote that they are progressive, and seem like (on the surface) a very good thing.
On my PeerTube instance, I spotted a Proud Boys video, which was posted there, and it's possibly posted as a "criticism" but it's posted as it was originally, and ... it's a video that was posted March 3, 2023. It's still there.

There's about 3 different things coming together here. Reading *Gödel, Escher, Bach* by Douglas Hofstadter (I think much of the issues there are issues in retrospect, not that they would have been evident at the time, though I'd love to find an answer to if they were evident or not).

#Fediblock issues (past and now present). They are all connected in having some issues.
There also is some personal stuff that probably comes up, where formal systems of community end up failing. Someone (not sure if there's any follow relationship here) posted about a very informal bike repair system they were told "that would never work" when it was a real system that was working, and had been for years.
I'm probably going to be going all over the place with this, and this is probably going to be several notes (it's longer already than a single Mastodon default length toot).
The Hofstadter stuff is hard for me to really pin down, but it really feels like there's something in what he's arguing that just is flawed logically. It could be the idea that formal systems are a sound way to describe reality (and maybe I've failed to see that what he's saying is quite the opposite, and this is an argument by contradiction (is that correct?) rather than his argument being based on what he's said so far).
And that's also something about it, it feels like it is an argument. Not so much that this is just something talking about what the state of things are, but that this is something which is presenting a compelling argument to make a sound point.
Currently reading about how "brains work on a low level based on a formal system." And I'm not sure that is a sound premise. I do know that we can't now (46 years later?) say that we have any understanding that could say definitively that to be true. We have many people arguing that it is, and we just don't have enough data, and data processing to show it to be so.
The stuff going on in my life, it's about how when the existing driving culture type stuff starts to fall apart, and relying on formal systems of helping end up being a huge pain.
I would say that a lot of why that fails is trying to find ways to help people, in a culture that's deeply individualistic. I feel that if I were to go to neighbours with jars of pickles (or something similar) it would be met with high levels of suspicion, and it's not just that it would be me they'd be suspicious of, but rather the entire act of doing something like that.
Now the other two things, feel like they are easier for me to look at. The issue with the issues that are showing up with Shinigami Eyes, is that there are problems of false positives and false negatives that people have noticed. This is something that is without question.
Some may feel that they aren't false, but really it's hard to argue that they are actually fair... (cont)

Nun gut, da hab' ich heute viele Stunden damit verbracht, herauszufinden, wie man mit #Passkeys am besten umgeht.
Was ich hinbekommen habe, ist, die Passkeys der beiden Beispielsites nicht nur auf dem #yubikey abzulegen, sondern auch im #KeePassXC für das #Backup.
Jetzt fehlen mir real existierende Anwendungsfälle. #Friendica scheint Passkeys noch nicht zu können und #Nextcloud ebenfalls nicht.

@kloetzl You can use a concept called "Borrow Splitting" in combination with scoped threads.
This way, your slices that your threads operate on, can have a lifetime shorter than 'static and you don't need to use #unsafe shenanigans.
