Chased a bug for hours: Pika Backup's scheduling failing on Raspberry Pi OS (#labwc) with "Background process inactive."
Root cause: xdg-desktop-portal-gnome's Background portal hangs without a real GNOME Shell running (StartServiceByName timeout in verbose logs). Same bug hits KDE/bspwm/Cinnamon too.
